2:25 PM - 2:40 PMLow Carbon Energy Research in Singapore
In 2022, Singapore launched its National Hydrogen Strategy to achieve net-zero emissions and boost energy security. Central to this strategy is the role of low-carbon hydrogen in decarbonizing the power sector and mitigating industrial emissions. A key thrust of this strategy is investing in research and development to address technological bottlenecks. Key R&D players include the National University of Singapore's Centre for Hydrogen Innovations (CHI) and the Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERI@N), focusing on hydrogen technologies, renewable energy, low-carbon generation, energy storage, and fuel cells. Additionally, the Low-Carbon Energy Research Funding Initiative (LCER-FI), managed by A*STAR, supports decarbonization research to help Singapore reach its 2050 net-zero goal. These LCER funded projects aim to enable us to safely import, handle, and utilize hydrogen and its carriers at scale.
